Experience
While I am relatively new to tutoring, I have several years of experience with teaching. As part of my day job, I am one of a select group of people responsible for training new employees in the Philadelphia market. I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Chestnut Hill College in December 2013. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and with Honors in Psychology. I am also beginning a Master’s program in General/Experimental Psychology at Villanova University in the fall. One thing that sets me apart as a tutor is that I have spent much of my academic career studying memory. I utilize what I know about memory when I teach. For example, information is more memorable when it is extreme or novel in some way. Sometimes, then, I will use a funny or extreme example to help the student remember material. I highly encourage feedback from my students. I believe in a customized lesson plan rather than a set curriculum. If there’s something you would like to spend more time on or a topic you don’t feel you need as much help with, please let me know!
